Made one of my favorite snacks and best substitute to fried potato chips, Apple chips. They are quick and easy to prepare and takes about 18-24 hours to dehydrate.
1/2 cup lemon juice
8 Medium Sized Granny Smith Apples
8 cups of water
Mix water and lemon juice together in a medium sized bowl.
Slice and core Apples 1/4 inch thick. You can leave the skin since it holds lots of fiber, however it’s does give the chips a rigid crunchy texture instead of smooth texture without it.
Add all the apple slices to the mixture to prevent them from browning in the drying process.
Lastly arrange them all on your tray at 135 degrees Fahrenheit for 18-24 hours. You will have to take one chip out let it cool to test out the crunchiness. While they are still warm you can’t tell if they are done and appear chewy, instead of crisp/crunchy.
